Who we are
Beijing Chinese Take Away ("we", "us") is a family-run Chinese takeaway based at 1 Greenstead Road, Colchester CO1 2SX. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us when you order from us or contact the restaurant.
What we collect
When you call to place an order we take your name, phone number, delivery address (if delivering) and the items in your order. When you visit the website we do not ask you to create an account or enter any personal details — the site is for information only.
Why we use it
We use your details to prepare your order, to call you if there is a problem with it, to deliver it to the right address, and to keep records required by tax and food-safety law. We do not use your details for marketing without your consent and we never sell them to third parties.
Sharing your information
We only share your details with people who help us run the restaurant — for example our delivery drivers, who are given your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your order. We may also share information where required by law.
Card payments
Card payments are taken in person on a card terminal at the counter or on delivery. Card details are processed by our card terminal provider; we do not see or store your full card number.
Cookies and the website
This website uses only the small number of cookies needed to make pages load and run correctly. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Order and accounting records are kept for up to 7 years to meet HMRC requirements. Day-to-day phone-order notes are discarded shortly after the order is delivered.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Please call 01206 795 600 or come in and ask. If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
